Providenciales is
rated among the top ten beaches in the world by
Conde Naste. Imagine kitesurfing across Turtle Tail
Bay, a spectacular shallow bay of clear flat
turquoise water with pristine sandy white beaches.
Or Long Bay, shallow flat water as far as the
horizon. For the advanced riders, kiteboard the
waves on the north shore reef. A Caribbean kitesurf
paradise for taking kiteboarding lessons or for the
advanced kite boarder.

WHAT IS
KITEBOARDING?
Kiteboarding or sometimes called kitesurfing is like wakeboarding
without a boat. Instead of a boat pulling you along the water, you
are creating power with a giant sail and that giant sail is a kite.
The
kite is controlled by the rider with a bar that is attached to the
kite by four lines. Depending on the placement and movements of the
kite, the kiteboarder controls his direction and the amount of power
that is generated.
The
control bar is hooked into a harness, so the load of the kite is not
on the kiteboarder's arms. The arms have very little pull on them
and are mostly used for steering the kite.
The
board that is used is very much like a wakeboard but is designed to
be ridden more on the edge. Kiteboards tend to be thinner in
shape and most have only foot straps for your feet to slide into
instead of the booties that you see on wakeboards.
Weather
Consistent winds, warm
water and plenty of sunshine make the best kiteboard conditions
you can find anywhere.
The only months we don't recommend coming to Turks & Caicos
Islands to kite surf are Aug, Sept, and Oct. (Its
hurricane season
so the kite boarding school is closed during these months).
